Katherine Heigl never gets old. Mary J. Blige will test out her pipes on the big screen. Plus, Jamie Foxx lands a “Horrible” new gig. It’s all in the latest edition of the AccessHollywood.com Casting Call…
Katherine Heigl has discovered the fountain of youth.
The former “Grey’s Anatomy” star has been tapped as the lead actress in the romance film “The Age of Adaline,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
The film focuses on a young woman (Heigl), born in the early 1900s, who never ages following a mysterious accident.
However, after years of being alone, the woman meets a man who forces her to consider whether he is worth giving up immortality to be with.
Heigl, who last hit the big screen opposite Gerard Butler in 2009’s “The Ugly Truth,” will next appear alongside Ashton Kutcher in the romantic comedy “The Killers,” which hits theaters on June 4.
She also recently wrapped production on another rom-com, “Life As We Know It,” with Josh Duhamel, Christina Hendricks and Josh Lucas.
R&B diva Mary J. Blige is ready for her big screen close up.
Blige will take on the role of legendary songstress Nina Simone in the biopic “Nina,” per Variety.
The film, written by Cynthia Mort (“The Brave One”), will showcase Simone’s ascent to stardom and her relationship with her assistant, Clifton Henderson.
This marks the second recent feature role for the multi-talented Blige, who played Tanya in “Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself” in 2009.
“Nina” is slated to begin shooting in France in September.
Jamie Foxx is taking a job working for some “Horrible Bosses.”
The actor has joined the cast of the workplace murder comedy “Horrible Bosses,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, which stars Jason Bateman and Charlie Day, centers on three sick-of-their-job friends who realize the only way to be happy is to kill each other’s overbearing bosses.
“Bosses” marks a reunion for Foxx and Bateman, after the duo worked together in the 2007 intense war drama “The Kingdom.”
However, the pair might get some superstar company on their new project, as Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston are also reportedly in talks to join the cast as two of the three bosses.
Production will begin in July.
Later this year, Foxx will star with Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr. in the comedy “Due Date,” which hits theaters on November 5.
