Will Smith and son Jaden Smith are hoping to scare up their next box office hit with director M. Night Shyamalan.

The father-son duo will team with the pseudo fright film director for a new as-of-yet untitled sci fi movie, Columbia Pictures announced on Monday.

The movie, set 1,000 years into the future, would focus on a young boy (Jaden) who navigates an abandoned and desolate Earth to save himself and his estranged father (Will) after their spaceship crashes.

Will is also serving as producer on the film, along with wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

“The chance to make a scary, science-fiction film starring Jaden and Will is my dream project,” Shyamalan said in a statement released by Columbia.

At the age of 12, Jaden is already starting to amass quite a Hollywood resume, with his big screen credits including “The Pursuit of Happyness,” “The Day the Earth Stood Still” and most recently, his first starring role in “The Karate Kid,” which brought in more than $350 million worldwide at the box office.

Shyamalan’s last box office release was the 2010 fantasy film “The Last Airbender.” His other directing credits include “The Happening,” “Lady in the Water,” “The Village,” “Signs” and “The Sixth Sense.”
