DENVER, CO. --

The Democratic National Convention could look more like a Hollywood red carpet event than a traditional political convention this year in Denver.

Hollywood and politics often overlap and with Barack Obama nabbing the Democratic nomination, an avalanche of celebs are expected to descend on the Mile High City to support the candidate in his bid for the White House, New York’s Daily News reports.

“We are expecting lots of people to be here, big names, small names and everyday American names,” convention spokesman Damon Jones told the paper.

Convention organizers have yet to release an official list, but Kanye West, N.E.R.D., Wyclef Jean and Usher are in “serious talks” to perform at the convention, according to DNC sources.

The Black Eyed Peas are scheduled to perform during convention week at a Creative Coalition DNC gala at the Fillmore Auditorium on Aug. 27.

“The Black Eyed Peas represent a growing genre of music that emphasizes increased social awareness,” Robin Bronk, executive director of the Creative Coalition, told the paper.

The DNC star power won’t just be limited to music’s greats. A-list stars from the big and small screen are also expected to come out in support of Obama.

Ben Affleck, who has already campaigned heavily for the Democratic presidential nominee, is expected in Denver. It’s not know if Affleck will be joined by wife Jennifer Garner or celeb pals Matt Damon or George Clooney.

Scarlett Johansson, who told the Associated Press, “My heart belongs to Barack, and that is who I am currently, finally, engaged to,” is also expected to show up in Denver.

And the list of expected Obama supporters at the DNC in Denver just continues to grow.

Warren Beatty, Annette Bening Susan Sarandon, Forrest Whitaker, Dana Delany, Rachel Leigh Cook and Ed Norton, who is reportedly directing a documentary on Obama, are also expect to attend the convention.
