LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Chad Lowe is going to be a dad.
Chad confirmed he and girlfriend Kim Painter are expecting their first child this summer.
In a new interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush for his nationally syndicated radio program, “The Billy Bush Show,” the former “24” star said Kim revealed her pregnancy news with a big grin.
“It was pretty sweet. She has to go to work in the morning very early,” Chad recounted to Billy. “She woke up up with a very big smile on her face and I knew exactly what that meant.”
Chad also told Billy that the couple do not yet know the sex of their impending arrival.
“The doctors know, but we don’t know yet,” Chad said.
Though joyous over the news, Chad said the couple are at odds over whether to learn the baby’s sex.
“There is a negotiation going on right now with Kim and I,” the former “Melrose Place” and “Life Goes On” star laughed. “I definitely want to know and she is much more interested in allowing it to be a surprise.”
As for the advice that Lowe has been getting thus far?
“The one thing I have heard consistently is… to get a lot of sleep while I can,” he said.
