Charlie Sheen & Brooke Mueller Call It Quits

After two years of marriage – and several months of legal troubles and rehab stints, Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller have split, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

A source told Access that Brooke has moved out and the couple’s twin sons, Max and Bob, will be staying with her.

The two have been under the microscope since a Christmas Day incident, where Charlie allegedly put a knife to Brooke’s throat during a domestic dispute at the family’s home in Aspen, Colorado – allegations which Charlie has denied.

More recently, Charlie drew headlines when he was spotted leaving a woman’s apartment in a disguise. While In Touch Weekly reported it was the apartment of his alleged mistress, who reportedly charged $3,000 per hour – a rep for the “Two and a Half Men” star told Access Charlie was simply visiting a friend. The woman also denied she was an escort in a statement to Access and said Charlie was a friend.

In between, there have been several court dates, public allegations and even rehab stints for both parties.

As for Charlie’s “Two and a Half Men,” the star recently said reports of him leaving the show over a contract dispute with CBS were false.

“Much speculation and rumor has arisen from my current status surrounding ‘Two and a Half Men,’” the star said in a statement to People on April 9. “All of the numbers reported in the press are false. Claims from ‘inside sources’ regarding offers from the studio as well as my salary, on their best day, are without merit.”

The final episode of the season was taped later that night, and despite his denial he was leaving, even Charlie seemed to hint it was at least possible.

“If tonight’s show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun,” he concluded.

Charlie and Brooke have two children – twin sons Max and Bob – who were born on March 14, 2009.

The couple met in April 2006 before announcing their engagement in July 2007. Charlie and Brooke tied the knot on May 30, 2008.
