LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Reboots of “Knight Rider,” “Melrose Place” and “The Bionic Woman” have all stumbled, but ABC is hoping a reboot of “Charlie’s Angels” will take off.

According to Variety, the network is close to ordering a pilot based on the iconic 70’s TV series.

Josh Friedman, who brought the “Terminator” franchise to the small screen in the form of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” is reportedly attached to write and executive produce the reboot.

Original “Charlie’ s Angels” producer Leonard Goldberg, who helped start the original series in 1976 with Aaron Spelling, and Drew Barrymore, who starred in and produced the 2000 big screen adaptation (and its not-so-successful 2003 sequel), are both also reportedly attached to the project.

Spelling attempted to launch a reboot of his series in 1988 on FOX called “Angels 88,” which never got off the ground.

According to the mag, the new “Angels” will reportedly “be geared toward a new generation while paying homage to the past.”
