Clint’s ‘Gran Torino’ To Be Box Office Biggest

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino” might have been shut out by the Academy when it came to Oscar nominations, but audiences are certainly celebrating the 78-year-old’s latest movie in record numbers. The drama is poised to become his career’s biggest office hit to date.

“Gran Torino” has racked up an impressive $97.6 million and counting, and will become Clint’s most boffo box office draw. During its third weekend of wide release, “Torino” pulled in $16 million.

The actor’s current biggest box office hit is 1993’s “In the Line of Fire,” which tops the list with $102.3 million. It’s followed by 1992’s “Unforgiven” with $101.1 million and 2004’s “Million Dollar Baby” with $100.5 million.

According to Access Hollywood’s Scott “Movie” Mantz, “Torino,” which he also directed, “will not only pass ‘In the Line of Fire’ by Friday, but it will leave it in the dust to become Eastwood’s highest-grossing movie by a long shot.”
