Corbin Bleu's Dancing With The Stars Blog: A Finals Preview
Former “High School Musical” star-turned-“One Life To Live” star Corbin Bleu joins AccessHollywood.com as our behind-the-scenes celebrity blogger for this season’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Here is his latest post…
Week 11: Can you believe the end has come?! It has been an experience to go down in my book as one of my life’s highlights!
No time to sit back and relish in it yet though. This week has been the toughest one of the entire season.
We have three dances that we are being scored on, as well as an opening number and an encore of “What Does The Fox Say?”
I think because my body knows it’s almost time to rest it’s starting to shut off. My legs feel like Jell-O and I hurt all over! But hard work pays off. We have a repeat dance where the judges pick which dance they feel we can perform even better now. They picked our quickstep. Len gave us an 8 last time because he felt it was a bit hectic so we worked this week at finding the moments in the routine to have light and shade, stillness then attack. And now that I have better control over my frame I feel like those moments are coming much easier to me.
We also have a Samba relay challenge where each of the four final couples transitions between each other to have their moment to dance. And last, but certainly not least, is the freestyle dance. This is the most important dance of the entire season. It’s the last time we get to showcase ourselves to you. It’s also to show the culmination of our growth throughout this process.
Karina and I are dancing to one of my favorite songs by my absolute favorite artist, Michael Jackson. To prepare for the number, “DWTS” flew us out to Las Vegas to work with MJ’s choreographer Travis Payne and the performers in Cirque Du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson ONE.” I actually worked with Travis back when he choreographed my tour for my album “Speed of Light.” It was awesome working with him again and seeing the show gave us so much inspiration. I highly recommend it!
In our number, we are incorporating some of MJ’s signature moves as well as ballroom and Cirque! There is a lot going on in our number so we are working around the clock to be sure it’s sharp and in sync. One wrong move can be potentially dangerous for both of us. There’s high risk, but hopefully high results.
At the end of the day though, no matter what the score, whether we go home with the trophy or not, I can walk away from this experience having learned more than I could have expected and having made new friendships that I believe will last a lifetime. Thank you to everyone out there who have supported Karina and I along this journey and I hope it has been as amazing for you as it has for us!
