Coroner: Corey Haim Death 'Natural' Due To Pneumonia, Other Factors

Corey Haim’s death was natural and not the result of drugs, the Los Angeles County Coroner revealed on Tuesday.

Haim’s death was listed as “natural,” the result of diffuse alveolar damage, which is a serious lung injury that can be caused by a number of factors. Pneumonia and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (where the heart muscles become so strong they lower the heart’s ability to pump blood) with coronary arteriosclerosis (where artery walls become thick) were also listed as the actor’s cause of death.

Toxicology reports revealed there were no “significant contributing factors” in the actor’s death on March 11 at the age of 38.

According to the Associated Press, Haim had some marijuana in his system, as well as over the counter and prescription drugs in small quantities, but they were not listed as having played a factor in the star’s death.

Haim had been suffering from pneumonia at the time of his death.

In early April, California Attorney General Jerry Brown said the actor had done some “doctor shopping,” obtaining hundreds of prescription meds including Valium, Vicodin, Xanax and Soma, in the months leading up to his death.

According to the AP, Brown said the doctors seemed unaware the actor got prescriptions from other medical practitioners.
