LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
American Express is accusing rocker Courtney Love of failing to pay her bills, but a lawyer for the former Hole front lady told Access Hollywood the case “has no merit.”
On Wednesday, American Express filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles seeking $352,059.67 for Love’s unpaid balance, damages, attorney’s fees and late charges to the rocker’s credit cards.
According to the lawsuit, Love’s charging privileges have been suspended and she has “failed and refused” to make payments.
Not true, says an attorney for the rock star. The attorney claims there are charges on her credit cards that were never made by Love.
“Amex knows the claim has no merit,” Love’s attorney said in a statement released to Access. “We have told them this for a long time. Amex’s law policies allowed fraudulent transactions to be charged to my client’s card.”
