LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Mark Ballas will be taking a break from the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ tour after suffering a groin injury, Access Hollywood has learned.

The ‘Dancing’ pro, who won the competition in Season 6 with Kristi Yamaguchi, told the audience at Staples Center in LA on Saturday that he’d be out “a couple of weeks” while he recovers, according to an Access staffer on the scene.

He plans to return to the stage on January 4, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, and will remain on tour.

Still, the star managed a few moves on Saturday, dancing with Yamaguchi as well as doing a hip-hop routine with Derek Hough and Lacey Schwimmer.

When they’re not dancing, Derek and Mark have been working on their debut album as the Ballas Hough Band — according to MarketWatch, the album, which features collaborations with producers including John Fields (Jonas Brothers) and Eric Valentine (Maroon 5), will be released in March 2009 on Hollywood Records.
