“Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” has named its final three.
(SPOILER ALERT: This story contains the results of Tuesday’s elimination show.)
Just call next week the “battle of the babes.” On Tuesday, it was revealed that gymnast Shawn Johnson, reality star Melissa Rycroft and “General Hospital” actress Kelly Monaco will compete for the most coveted mirrorball of all – the “All-Stars” title.
Apolo Anton Ohno and Emmitt Smith, both previous mirrorball winners, were eliminated one week shy of the prize.
Apolo and his pro dancer, Karina Smirnoff, got the news first. Reflecting on the season, the speed skater called his time on the show, “a blessing.”
“This competition was hard from the beginning and Karina’s a champion. I’ve learned so much about her, she’s taught me so much about myself and this show is amazing for far beyond just what the mirrorball trophy has in store for people,” he said. “Every single person who does this show is a champion because it forces you to become a champion in your own right. It forces you to become more confident, stronger and it’s been a blessing.”

Emmitt learned his fate at the end of the show, but he and partner Cheryl Burke took the news well.
“It’s been a tremendous experience, [it’s] been a great ride,” he said, as he hugged his smiling pro. “Cheryl’s been a tremendous partner. She has pushed me to another level. Season 3 was something else, but this, right here takes it over the top. All of these contestants here, they have pushed me to another level… and I have great appreciation for the show.”
Melissa is the lone celebrity left in the competition who has not won a mirrorball. Kelly scooped up the mirrorball during Season 1 and Shawn won Season 8.
Next week’s show, which kicks off on Monday night at 8/7c on ABC, will mark the first time pro Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Kelly’s partner, will perform in a final.
