“Dancing with the Stars” has crowned its newest mirrorball winners.
“Glee’s” Amber Riley and her pro partner Derek Hough earned the trophy on Tuesday night, beating out very stiff competition from Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff, who came in second. This marks Derek’s fifth mirrorball win (he previously won with Brooke Burke-Charvet, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey and Kellie Pickler).
“I did this competition because, I didn’t know if I [could] do it and anything that scares me I wanna do, so I [want to] let women of all sizes out there know you can do whatever you put your mind to,” Amber said after winning. “It doesn’t matter what size you are, what color you are, you can do whatever, whatever, whatever, whatever you put your mind to!”
Corbin took his second place finish very, very well, smiling and hugging his pro partner Karina.
“[It was] more than fun,” Corbin told show co-host Brooke of his experience. “I thank God for this experience; I thank my family; I thank my best partner in the world, and honestly, I came here and I did exactly what I wanted to do. … I had a blast.”
Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke took third for the season, and the reality star said he heads home feeling like a winner.
“I’ve learned that if you just dive in and you have a great teacher, it is possible to become a ballroom dancer,” he said on the show. “Just going the distance for me was winning enough. Like, I thought I was gonna be out in Week 5 and here I am third place, like, ‘I’ll take that.’”
Within seconds of her win, Amber was congratulated by her “Glee” co-stars on Twitter.
Alex Newell , who plays Unique on the Fox drama Tweeted, “Yay!!!!”
Kevin McHale, who plays Artie, wrote, “AMBER FREAKING RILEY!!!!!!! @MsAmberPRiley !!! So proud of you!”
