LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Caption Daniel Radcliffe attends the World Premiere of ‘The Woman In Black’ at the Royal Festival Hall, London, on January 24, 2012Daniel Radcliffe had plenty of onscreen experience with ghosts in the “Harry Potter” series, but in his new big screen role, the apparitions take on a whole new level of scary.
Access Hollywood caught up Daniel at the junket for his new thriller, “The Woman in Black,” where he revealed that he’s hoping the film keeps audiences up at night.
“I’m not worried about it, I’m hoping for it” he told Access at the film’s junket, when asked if he was worried about scaring the audiences into fits of insomnia. “I want to make a lot of people scared for this film and I think it will. It is a scary, scary movie.”
The 22-year-old says his new film, which also stars Oscar-nominee Janet McTeer, will shake off his child actor image.
“There is an association with me as being in kids films… [but, this movie,] it expunges that notion from your mind. This is a very frightening film,” he added.
His next role in “Kill Your Darlings,” where he plays a young version of famous beat poet Allen Ginsberg, will also continue to help Daniel shake off his “Potter” past.
“I’ll be playing a 19-year-old Allen Ginsberg,” he said of his next project. “It’s sort of an origins movie, but for poets… [about] a murder that was the catalyst for forming the Beat generation.”
“The Woman in Black” hits theaters on February 3.
