NEW YORK --

David Arquette has spoken openly about Jennifer Aniston?s breakup with Brad Pitt, countering tabloid claims that have suggested the former ?Friends? star is still sad over the split.

The actor, whose wife Courteney Cox is Aniston?s best pal, told Howard Stern yesterday that the actress has kept a good out look on life.

?Jennifer is the greatest girl,? he told the shock jock. ?Those magazines, they take something and it’s working for them so they play it out, but she’s not really that sad about the whole thing. She’s the greatest, she’s such a sweetheart, she’s so funny.?

He also revealed that Aniston has no ill feelings toward Angelina Jolie, who hooked up with Pitt after filming ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith? with the star.

?I don’t think Jennifer hates her either, I don’t think it’s like that,? he said on the show. ?The way they depict it is completely wrong. She’s a very strong woman, she’s totally solid and she’s just got a great attitude.?

He also revealed he has not spoken to Pitt since his split with Aniston.

?I spoke to him once. We didn’t actually speak, I texted him, I just said congratulations on the baby and he wrote back,? Arquette recounted. ??I love Brad, he’s a great guy. He did some stuff that hurt our friend, but you know . . .?
