Dave Grohl is a multi-talented musician — boasting incredible guitar, drum and vocal skill — and the former Nirvana drummer says he owes it all to The Beatles.
“When I was young, that’s how I learned how to play music — I had a guitar and a Beatles songbook,” Dave told Access Hollywood at the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute to Paul McCartney in Los Angeles on Friday. “I would listen to the records and play along. Of course, it didn’t sound like The Beatles, but it got me to understand song structure and melody and harmony and arrangement.”

Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift had the right moves at the American Music Awards: The band and the country princess picked up the first trophies at Sunday’s ceremony.
Maroon 5, still riding high off their comeback hit “Moves Like Jagger,” won for favorite pop-rock band/duo/group. Adam Levine, the band’s lead singer and “The Voice” judge, thanked “our incredible fans for making this happen.”

Even without Jerry Lewis, the Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon posted its best gain since the recession started, though the program’s longtime host was on the minds of many during the 46th annual fundraiser.
“American Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said after co-hosting Sunday’s program that he’s sorry the famed comedian didn’t participate, but the organization needs to move on to ensure the fundraiser continues.

Instead, the triple-threat announced her involvement in the iHeartRadio Music Festival, which also includes music heavy-hitters like Lady Gaga, Coldplay, her fellow “Idol” judge Steven Tyler and the Black Eyed Peas.
