After Derek Hough took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography, he practically did flips backstage in the press room – and sister Julianne Hough was flipping out in the audience when they called his name.
Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson caught up with the Emmy winner backstage, who did double duty both on Sunday’s show as a performer and a winner.
“The whole experience was just amazing. I’ll never forget it. It’s one thing to like win the Emmy, which is unbelievable and another thing to have worked on the Emmys,” he told Shaun.
“To perform in front of all the amazing people… and then immediately after win it, like you can’t really, it doesn’t get much better than that, it’s pretty awesome!” he continued.
Derek’s date, sister Julianne, told Shaun she could barely contain herself after they called her brother’s name.
“I was flipping out!” she told Shaun of his win. “Oh yeah, screaming!… He’s the most talented person I know. I have said that from day one and he inspires me every single day to be not only like not only an amazing human being, but like creative and living life to the fullest and l love this guy. He deserves it.”
Derek revealed to Shaun that his win brought out a side of his sister not seen very often.
“She was like in tears and was very, very proud and there may or may not had been a few curse words, but out of joy,” Derek said with a smile.
