“Hairspray” star Nikki Blonsky has landed her first primetime TV role.
The 19-year-old actress, who turns 20 this weekend, is set to film a guest-starring role for the eleventh episode of ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” sources close to the show confirm to Access Hollywood.
Blonsky will play an assistant at competitive magazine Elle, who becomes friends with Mode girl Betty — but Blonsky’s character may have her own agenda.
Sources said she is set for just one episode right now but it could become more. The episode is set to air before the end of the year.
Blonsky joins a long list of celebrities who have popped up as guest stars on “Ugly Betty,” including Victoria Beckham, Adriana Lima, Naomi Campbell, Lucy Liu, Gene Simmons and most recently Lindsay Lohan, who just wrapped up a four-episode stint as Betty’s High School rival, Kimmie Keegan.
This is Blonsky’s first acting gig since news broke of her bizarre family airport brawl in Turks and Caicos with the family of “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Bianca Golden.
A hearing is set for 1 December in the Turks and Caicos Islands .
Blonsky recently completed work on an independent film called “Waiting For Forever” with Rachel Bilson, Jaime King and Blythe Danner.
