LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Last night was my first chance to meet the Top 12 contestants on “American Idol.” After getting to know them a little bit and getting to know their personalities, I can tell you that my favorites now are Michael Lynche, Crystal Bowersox, Lacey Brown and Andrew Garcia. I learned some interesting little tidbits from each contestant and today I present my Top 12 top tidbits from the Top 12 party.

12. The contestants have been picking out their own clothes up until now for the live shows. “Ninety-nine percent has been on my own,” Lacey Brown revealed. “We get a little bit of help, and from now on we’ll get a lot more help.”

11. Katie Stevens is addicted to entertainment news shows like Access Hollywood. “It’s weird because I watch all these shows,” she told me “And then I see people that I know and I’m like ‘Oh my god!’ and everyone’s like, ‘Breathe, Katie, breathe. That’s going to be you someday!’”

10. A source at the party told me Siobhan Magnus will sing “Paint It Black” next week during Rolling Stones week. “I’m so excited,” she exclaimed about performing a tune by the classic Mick Jagger fronted band. “It kind of makes me feel back home with my band, back to my rock roots,” she said.

9. Many of the contestants admitted to me that they Google themselves on the Internet to see what people are saying about them including Lee Dewyze. “You’re always looking at the bad stuff,” Lee admitted. However, he said he has stopped reading it recently, “I’m over that. I mean from here on out I’m going do my thing and not worry about, you know, that kind of stuff.”

“In the beginning I did,” Aaron Kelly admitted about searching for stories about him on the Internet too. “But I’ve learned not too because they said I have a problem with my confidence and I don’t need anything to lower it.”

8. Michael Lynche has no relationship with his father. “He left when I was 15,” Michael told me. “So, it’s like you know, my mom, my brothers and sisters. Those are my family and my wife’s family” (and, of course, his new baby too!).

7. Tim Urban is keeping coy about his personal life. I explained to him that the number one question I got about him on Twitter was, “Are you single?” He responded, “You know what? I’m not going to even answer the question. It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s that certain things you just don’t want to go around talking about so much. You gotta keep something personal.” To that I say – ‘OK, Ricky Martin.’

6. If Katie Stevens continues on the show she will miss attending prom with her boyfriend and walking in her high school graduation. “It’s sad but I know everybody there is rooting for me and this has been my dream come true for so long. So, I wouldn’t give this up for anything.”

5. There are no romantic sparks between any of the Idols going on. “We work too much. We don’t have time to think about it,” Paige Miles explained. “Seriously every minute is almost occupied. We are constantly going! I mean, we have to schedule sleep.”

4. Didi Benami doesn’t believe that Ryan Seacrest has a crush on her despite what the Internet buzz is saying. “Ryan loves his blackberry” she joked to me last night. Although Didi does think Ryan is cute she said, “I do not have a crush on Ryan.”

3. Casey James and Michael Lynche were roommates but Casey had to move out because of a big problem. “Big Mike snores big!” Casey revealed to me. “It was tough because I usually fall asleep after him. I love him. He knows this, but it’s been a difficult situation for me.” Even earplugs didn’t do the trick, so Casey moved out and is now bunking with Tim Urban who told me he does not snore.

2. Crystal Bowersox says if the show would make her cut her dreadlocks she would quit. “Ain’t happening,” she said. “If they try to touch my hair, I’m running.” It’s taken her four years to grow them out. “They’ve been around the world with me. Istanbul, Turkey… Mexico… England - there is a lot of history there.”

1. Andrew Garcia will propose to Christina, his girlfriend of four years (and mother of his three-year-old son), if he wins “American Idol.” When I asked if he was going to marry her, he said he loves her but can’t afford a ring right now. However, he told me has been thinking about how he will pop the question. “I don’t want to just be like, ‘Marry Me’. I want to do something big.” So I suggested that if he wins he should propose to her right there on national television in front of 38 million people at the finale. “I’m going to do it,” he exclaimed. We shook on it. Truthfully, I don’t think Andrew will win but it would be a nice story.
