LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Court documents say former supermodel Cindy Crawford and her entrepreneur husband Rande Gerber are the targets of an extortion scheme.
Documents filed Thursday by the FBI and U.S. attorney’s office in U.S. District Court say an acquaintance of the couple’s former nanny has threatened to sell a photo of their then 7-year-old daughter.
The photo was purportedly taken by the couple’s former nanny and shows the girl bound to a chair in revealing clothing.
Cindy Crawford’s spokeswoman Annett Wolf issued a statement saying the photo was taken as part of a game without Crawford’s knowledge.
Crawford, who divorced actor Richard Gere in 1995, married Gerber in 1998. They have two children.
