NEW YORK, N.Y. -- “Celebrity Apprentice” boss Donald Trump hasn’t seen the photos, which surfaced recently showing his son, Donald Trump Jr., posing with animals the 34-year-old killed in Africa with his brother, Eric Trump, but he does plan to address the subject with his adult children.
“I’m going to talk to them about it,” Donald told Access Hollywood correspondent Jill Martin on Tuesday. “I’m not a fan of the whole situation and I’m going to talk to them about it, yes.”
Donald Jr. and Eric released a statement to Access on Tuesday, regarding the photos and their hunting practices – one of which showed Donald Jr. holding the tail of a dead elephant in one hand and a hunting knife in the other.
“We are both avid outdoorsmen and were brought up hunting and fishing with our Grandfather who taught us that nothing should ever be taken for granted or wasted. We have the utmost respect for nature and have always hunted in accordance with local laws and regulations,” the Trump sons said in a joint statement. “In addition, all meat was donated to local villagers who were incredibly grateful. We love traveling and being in the woods – at the end of the day, we are outdoorsmen at heart.”
Speaking to Jill, Donald Sr. said he doesn’t want to view the images of his son on the hunt.
“I don’t particularly want to see them. I’ve never liked it. I’ve never liked that they love it. They’re experts at it. People have told me they’re great hunters. Strange, coming from me, these great hunters, but they did everything, according to what I understand, totally properly and gave all of the meat away to the people that needed it. But, I just don’t see it,” he said.
In related Trump news, the “Celebrity Apprentice” boss weighed in on the results of ABC reality show, “The Bachelor,” and Ben Flajnik’s final choice – Courtney Robertson.
“I didn’t watch it, but I did see the end result, and I think he picked a beautiful young woman, but I think he couldn’t have lost because I think the other young woman was also very beautiful and very nice,” Donald Sr. told Jill. “I think he picked probably the tougher of the two. Time will tell if that’s the right thing to do. I’m not sure that, that would have been my choice, but who knows? But he picked somebody that seems to be not so popular with other people. That’s usually not a good sign.”
“The Celebrity Apprentice” airs Sunday nights at 9/8c on NBC.
