Angelina Jolie To Be Cornwell’s Coroner: Angelina will star as medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta in an adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s 16-book series, Variety reported. Fox 2000 is acquiring the screen rights to the series in the hopes of a potential franchise to develop for the “Wanted” star. Angelina is currently filming another thriller, “Salt.”
Evan Rachel Wood Sinks Her Teeth Into “True Blood”: The “Wrestler” star will play Sophie-Anne, the vampire queen of Louisiana, Entertainment Weekly reported. She’s said to be slated for two episodes of the show’s upcoming second season as the 500-year-old French vampire, whose lengthy past includes meetings with many of history’s most influential names.
Vanessa Hudgens Is A ‘Beastly’ Beauty: “High School Musical” star Vanessa has signed on to star in CBS Films’ “Beastly,” a modern-day take on “Beauty and the Beast” set in New York, Variety reported. The fresh-faced actress will be playing the first of the title characters. She’s also attached to Zack Synder’s “Sucker Punch” which has been dubbed, “‘Alice In Wonderland’ with machine guns.”
Elizabeth Banks Turns “21”: Elizabeth will star in and produce DreamWorks comedy “Forever 21,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. She’s also set to star with Leslie Mann in the New Line comedy “What Were We Thinking?” The busy Elizabeth had a full slate of films in 2008, with roles in “The Uninvited,” “W.,” “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” and “Role Models.”
Christian Bale Gets In The Ring: The “Terminator Salvation” star is attached to “The Fighter,” the story of Irish boxer Mickey Ward, who’ll be played by Mark Wahlberg. According to Variety, Christian will play his criminal-minded brother, Dicky Eklund, who goes on to help his sibling reach the world lightweight championship.
