LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Caption Fantasia Barrino is pretty in purple at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy partyAccess has obtained the 911 call placed after “American Idol” Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino overdosed on Monday.
“An individual took a bottle of aspirin and she’s slowly losing consciousness,” the unidentified caller said in the recording.
The caller, who said he was outside of Fantasia’s house, explained that someone else was attending to the singer while he placed the call.
The 911 operator then asked if Fantasia was awake.
“She’s slowly losing consciousness,” he said, explaining that she was breathing.
When asked where the singer was, the caller said, “in the shower.”
“The family tried to put her in the shower to try to keep her awake…” he continued.
The 911 operator then instructed the caller to remove Fantasia from the shower.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, on Tuesday the singer’s manager released a statement to Access, saying, “Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid.
“Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time,” the statement continued. “Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.”
