Former 'Partridge Family' Star David Cassidy Arrested For DUI

Former “Partridge Family” star David Cassidy was arrested for DUI on Wednesday night, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the actor was pulled over shortly after 6 PM on Wednesday in Florida’s St. Lucie County for after a Highway Patrol trooper noticed the actor’s white Mercedes swerving on the road.

“I observed the vehicle travel off the roadway onto the paved shoulder rumble strip. The vehicle then traveled back into the outside lane,” the trooper’s arrest report stated.

After observing what the trooper claimed was repeated similar actions, including changing lanes in front of a red vehicle which had to “abruptly brake to avoid a collision,” Cassidy was pulled over.

“The Trooper subsequently determined that Mr. Cassidy was operating his vehicle under the influence in violation of Florida State Law and arrested and transported Mr. Cassidy to the St. Lucie county jail,” Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement to Access.

After being pulled over, Cassidy, 60, told the trooper he “had a glass of wine around lunch time and a Hydrocodone at approximately 3:30 PM,” according to the arrest report.

The actor was asked to step out of the vehicle and proceeded to fail several “field sobriety exercises.” A search of Cassidy’s car discovered a “half empty” bottle of bourbon in the backseat.

The results of Cassidy’s breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.139 and 0.141, both well over the state’s .08 legal limit.

Cassidy was arrested and charged with DUI, failure to maintain a single lane and having an open container.

He was released at approximately 3:30 AM after posting $350 bond.

“On the advice of counsel, Brian Rodier, it would be improper and premature to make a statement at this time. David would, however, like to assure everyone that he is alright and thank his family, friends and fans for their love and support,” his publicist, Jo-Ann Geffen, said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

However, earlier in the day, Geffen told TMZ the actor had, in fact, taken a pain pill earlier in the day on Wednesday, however, she denied the actor was drunk and disputed the breathalyzer test results.

“He would never jeopardize anyone on the road and he would not have been driving had he not had to go to a funeral … he’s never been arrested in his life before for anything,” she told TMZ.
