Glam Slam: Avoid A Summer Style Rut
We’re not even half way through the summer and I am already starting to get burned out on my warm weather wardrobe. Needing some fresh inspiration, I asked one of the most stylish people I know, Jennie Baek to weigh in. Jennie works at an upscale store in Beverly Hills, she’s an actress and movie producer and the girl knows her stuff when it comes to fashion. If you’re looking at your closet and wondering what to wear, Jennie shares new ways to wear Summer Musts.
OLD WAY TO WEAR: With jeans or shorts.
NEW WAY TO TRY: Pair your striped shirt with a bright yellow circle or pleated skirt for a fresh feminine take on the classic. Add a statement necklace and be sure to tuck in your tee to show off your waistline. Throw on heels or ballet flats to finish the look.
OLD WAY: With t-shirts and tanks.
NEW WAY: To sass up this casual staple, pair your white jeans with an electric blue peplum top, bright yellow classic heels, and a cognac leather deconstructed clutch. Put on a fabulous cocktail ring and a thick gold cuff. Add the finishing touch by applying red lipstick!
OLD WAY: With anything casual.
NEW WAY: The best way to get out of your style rut of wearing your shorts with a t-shirt is to pair it with a beautiful cream silk button-down blouse. The blouse should be more on the loose side and it can be half way tucked in the front. Bring the look together with a leopard belt and neutral colored ankle bootie. Then, add a punch of color by adding a red cross-body purse!
OLD WAY: During the spring, you may have paired your florals with very ladylike pastel colors.
NEW WAY: As we approach the end of summer and fall, make a transition by layering darker pieces. For example, wear black jeans with that floral print blouse you’ve been wearing all summer. Also, you can layer your blouse with a crew neck sweater and pull out the collar and sleeves. Put on a rhinestone necklace to add a little extra sparkle to the outfit.
OLD WAY: Other summer hot colors and bright prints.
NEW WAY: Pair your neon key piece with a neutral tone like grey. For example, a neon green lace skirt with a grey T-shirt allows your skirt to stand out without going overboard. A hot pink sweater with grey jeans is another example of wearing the neon trend in a fresh and chic way.
