We needed a makeup detox after weeks of wearing shiny, glittery, metallic holiday cosmetics! So, we headed straight to New York’s Henri Bendels, a favorite of stars like Carrie Underwood, Beyonce and Blake Lively. Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager Claudia Lucas gave us some fast and easy tips to start the year with a fresh look.
CLEAN UP
“With everyone feeling the economy crunch one way or another, many are having to cut back on spa visits, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t get comparable treatments at home. Keep your skin refreshed and slough off all that winter dead skin by using Kate Somerville’s “ExfoliKate” product. It’s just as good as seeing Kate in her Hollywood clinic,” which Claudia says stars Kate Beckinsale and Nicole Richie are devotees of. “It not only keeps skin soft, but also improves the complexion.”
LOSE THE FAKE TAN
“Ditch your self tanning lotion this winter and opt for a more natural look, with tinted moisturizer. I recommend Laura Mercier, which will not only moisturize and protect your skin, but it also provides even yet lightweight coverage, which allows your natural flush to shine through. Ashlee Simpson is a fan of the brand and stocked up on her favorites the last time she was here at Bendels.”
ADD SOME COLOR
“The winter is a great time to try color on your lips, because the contrast of paler skin with bright colors is flattering on all women. Take a break from your neutral glosses and try a bright matte lipstick instead. One of my favorites is from Mally Roncal’s line and is called Zooey Doll, which she created specially for her client Zooey Deschanel.” Claudia says, “It’s the perfect blend of pink and red and will flatter almost all complexions.”
