Everyone is still raving over how beautiful Kate Middleton, now Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, looked on her wedding day. Perfection!
If you’d like to achieve her natural looking makeup look either on your own, like she did or with the help of a makeup artist, Ricky Wilson Celebrity Makeup Artist for Dior Beauty reveals how.
“First make sure the skin is in the best shape possible moisturizing everyday and using eye cream. Something a bride can do three weeks before the big day is to use a revitalizing treatment like Dior’s 21 day night ritual,” Ricky suggests.
“Foundation should be flawless and invisible so that you can’t see it even in the daylight. To get this I like to use an airbrush foundation. The easiest on the market is Airflash from Dior. This feels like silk on the skin and sprays on easily directly from the can.
Eyes were a main part of Kate’s look. I loved the way that they were shaded in neutral tones, but at the same time mildly intense with the use of eyeliner and mascara. This is perfect for the bride who is afraid of color but really wants the eyes to pop. You can use the Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow palette in Incognito to get the look.
First, sweep the light vanilla color over the eye as a base and work the taupe and brown shades over the outer lid sweeping up into the crease.
Next, line the eyes with a waterproof eye pencil in a soft black or dark brown on both upper and lower lash lines.
Finish the eye with a few layers of mascara to add drama. My faves are Diorshow Iconic and Black Out for added drama.
Brows frame the eye, so it’s important not to have unruly brow hair. I always say to brides not to get their brows done a few days before the wedding to avoid irritation on the big day. The brow pencil that looks the most natural is the Dior Brow Styler, which is a universal shade that mimics natural brow hair. I recommend holding it just as you would a pen and using short feather strokes to prevent a drawn on look.
Blushing the face is so important for brides and made Kate look amazing. A soft pink brushed on the apples of the cheeks and swept up towards the temples makes the skin come alive and gives an overall freshness to the skin. A tip that I have is using a color that isn’t too neon and a brush that isn’t too big. You want a product you can control and if the brush is too big you can end up applying too much.
Lip tips - always use a natural liner to give the lips definition and make sure that you wear a soft creamy lipstick under any gloss for staying power. I also just put gloss in the center of the bottom lip and let it work itself outward. This adds a nice pout to the lips. Products I love… caramel liner from Dior Rouge lipstick in 298 Lip polish #2.”
