From Miley Cyrus to Selena Gomez to Taylor Swift, music’s brightest stars were out in full force. When it comes to the MTV Video Music Awards, one thing is for sure, the fashion is rarely tame and always memorable. And, last night was no exception.
Here are some of the standout looks:
Ms. Miley walked the carpet in a vintage Dolce & Gabbana get-up. The bejeweled two-piece showed off her super-toned abs. I guess the look was playful in a certain way, but her hairdo was dreadful. Miley, who has recently said she’s trying to grow out her short hairstyle, had two tight buns atop of her head. I wasn’t sure if they were horns to represent Miley’s devilish side.
Kate Perry’s fashion roared at the red carpet – literally. The 28 year-old singer says her look was inspired by her latest single, “Roar”. She wore a long-sleeved leopard print dress by Ungaro. The dresses’ high slit showed off her shapely legs. The only style setback was the star bared her teeth in jeweled grill while posing for photographers. Not sure, what she’s thinking there!
Typically a style shocker, Lady Gaga went demure on the red carpet in a cleavage baring long black dress. “This is by Pablo Gurung who is really an incredible designer and he made this custom for me this weekend. It’s actually not being shown for another couple weeks, so it’s some early fashion,” the superstar revealed to Access Hollywood.
The singing sensation’s look was sexy but age-appropriate. She wore a peek-a-boo bustier gown by Atelier Versace. The tight-fighting gown also had a thigh high slit, which added some va-va-voom to overall style.
Equally beautiful in blue, was Selena’s best friend, Taylor Swift. The country superstar looked more Hollywood glam than edgy rock ‘n roll. She wore a plunging Herve Leger by Max Azria, which highlighted her enviable figure. She finished off her retro look with finger curls and her signature red lips.
