“You have to give your audience the fantasy that they want… you in the most amazing dress with the most amazing jewels,” says “What Not To Wear’s” Stacy London.
That’s a lot of pressure but with this year’s stylish nominees (Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway and Kate Winslet to name a few!) I’m guessing that won’t be a problem. They’ve all been fashion tour de forces so far this awards season! As for what you can expect to see on Sunday, Stacy breaks down the trends.
“I think we’re going to see a lot of trends at the Oscars that we’ve actually already seen. Starting with the Golden Globes, we had a lot of ONE SHOULDER, a lot of FRILLY, a lot of GODDESS TYPE dresses, in NEUTRALS… But like we saw at the SAG Awards, I think we’re also going to see some SUPER SEXY, SUPER SKINNY svelte dresses too.”
And here is what Stacy would love to see some of Oscar’s lovely ladies wearing on the year’s biggest red carpet:
“I think she likes to be comfortable even in her evening wear. So we still want to make sure that she’s doing a silhouette that is comfortable on her. She likes the strapless silhouette… but what would be terrific is to see her in some bright color, because I think that compliments her eye color, her hair color and skin color.” Stacy suggests a pretty blue.
“If she is going to wear black to the Oscars, we would want something that is architectural enough to really stand out,” Stacy says of one of the Lead Actress nominee’s favorite colors. “I think we’ll see something very figure flattering… I think she’s really aware of the fact that she is looking better than she has ever looked and now is the time to show it off.”
“Freida Pinto is really frankly THE new star. She is absolutely stunning.” Stacy wants to see the 24-year-old “Slumdog Millionaire” star in a strapless dress that would compliment her slight frame. “I love the idea of her doing subtle colors, something like a chocolate brown, still differentiated from her skin tone that has a little bit of sheen to it.”
