Glam Slam: The Friday Five - Ways To Upgrade Your Baby Bump
Duchess Kate looked lovely as always in sunny yellow on Wednesday. She always looks gorgeous, but then again, she’s in the unique position of having a beauty team and designer clothing at her disposal.
Most of us don’t have that luxury, but it doesn’t mean we can’t look great while pregnant. Maternity Mogul Liz Lange, whose affordable and accessible fashions can be found at Target, shares five ways to “Upgrade Your Baby Bump,” especially for those who are pregnant during the summer months.
Dresses, Dresses, Dresses:
Dresses are the number one staple to have in your summer maternity wardrobe. They are easy, instant outfits – and always appropriate for any summer occasion. I’m loving this maxi dress from my Target collection. The high-low hem and color blocking are right on trend, plus the belt above the belly adds a definition and is a great way to show off that bump!
Remember, no one wants to see a pregnant women teetering around on high heels. Comfort is key, so opt for flat strappy sandals or a low wedge if you need a little lift.
Don’t Be Afraid To Show Some Skin:
Pregnant women tend to overheat in any season, so when temperatures rise this summer, don’t hesitate to reveal a bit of skin. Highlight the thinnest parts of your figure – your arms and toned legs – with tanks, shorts and mini dresses.
Experiment With Pattern & Color:
This summer it’s all about bold print and vibrant color. Women often veer towards safe neutrals to dress their bumps, but I encourage them to experiment with mixing and matching different shades of the same hue – it’s surprisingly flattering.
Play Up The Outfit With Accessories:
When in doubt, amp up your look with brightly colored shoes, jewelry and bags. Accessories are a great way to incorporate the season’s must-have trends into your maternity wardrobe – like neon, which is so hot for summer!
