Glam Slam: What Will They Wear To The Oscars?
“I just feel like I’ve arrived,” Best Actress nominee Viola Davis told us about receiving her first Best Actress nomination. “People are acknowledging my work. I feel like no matter which way that it goes, that I kind of, I’ve won.”
She’s already a winner in our book! I loved Viola Davis in “The Help” and the actress looked absolutely stunning in her custom Emilio Pucci gown at the Golden Globes. Now she….and the other nominees, get to do it all again for the granddaddy of award shows—The Oscars!
What will they wear? We’ll see a continuation of the trends we saw at the Globes. Bright bold colors, delicate pastels and metallics.
“It’s all about how I feel and if I feel good in it,” says “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” star and Best Actress nominee Rooney Mara about the dress selection process. The star, who wore a beautiful black Nina Ricci gown to the Golden Globes, hasn’t begun to think about what she’s going to wear.
“I haven’t, you know, but there are so many beautiful dresses out there and that Nina Ricci was the first dress I tried on and I hope this one is just as easy.”
“Oh my gosh, that to me is the hardest part,” admits Best Actress nominee Glenn Close of choosing a dress. “I don’t consider myself a fashion person, so you just want to look good. If it was really me, I’d be quite funky, but you find yourself in a very beautiful gown and I guess that’s what it’s all about. It’s all part of the party.”
Glenn’s “Albert Nobbs” co-star and Best Supporting Actress Nominee Janet McTeer enjoys the dress search, but admits it does have its unique challenges!
“It is good fun, yeah. It was a bit stressful for the Golden Globes, because I was in England and then I was in Europe, and then I was here for like one day to find a dress, and I’m 6”1 and it’s quite hard to find a dress off the peg. So that was a bit stressful. I nearly wrote Jane Lynch and said, ‘Help! Have you got something in your cupboard that I could borrow?’”
Find out what everyone wears when the 84th Annual Academy Awards air Sunday, February 26th on ABC.
