LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

I lost my virginity last night… it was my first time… as an on camera style correspondent for the Emmy awards. Surreal, but fun! Very, very very hot on the carpet under all those lights and everyone was sweating bullets. (Myself included!)

Julia Louis-Dreyfus joked with me that she botoxed her whole body so she wouldn’t sweat!

Mama-to-be Heidi Klum, who is due in October, braved the heat in classic black Marchesa. She gave me a lesson in how to pose on the red carpet.

“Shoulders back. Chest out. Stomach in.”

Somehow it works better for her than it did for me!

BOLD COLORS were one of the big trends on the red carpet. Blake Lively was sexy in a low cut red Va Va Voom Versace.

“It’s a little old Hollywood glamour this color, but yet it’s really modern and sexy,” Blake told me.

Debra Messing, in Michael Kors, also went with red, as did Hayden Panettiere in a one-shouldered J. Mendel. Julia Louis-Dreyfus did teal Vera Wang. Padma Lakshmi wore purple Badgley Mischka, Ginnifer Goodwin was stunning in fuchsia Yves St. Laurent and I got in on the bright trend with my purple Pamella Roland gown, accessorized with Swarovski jewels and a Nancy Gonzalez silver crocodile clutch. “SNL’s” Andy Samberg was just one person who stepped on the train of my dress and I had to nudge him a couple of times before he moved!

Christina Applegate went with blue. So did Sarah Silverman, who unfortunately was my pick for worst dressed with her over the top Marie Antoinette style blue shiny gown.

Many stars rocked METALLICS. Mariska Hargitay stunned in silver Carolina Herrera. Sandra Oh, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Kristin Chenoweth all sparkled. Kristin worked a short blinged out dress by Zuhair Murad. It was heavy (15 pounds) and she joked that it was half her body weight!

Jane Krakowski dazzled in silver Versace. She and “30 Rock” co-star Tina Fey (in black Gucci) did the red carpet together and these two cracked me up. They told me their dressing rooms are across from each other and they consulted each other on their dresses. Tina joked that she had a knife under her dress in case anyone messed with her.

Loved Drew Barrymore’s blush colored Monique Lhuillier strapless gown with tulle details. It was so beautiful, it was Oscar-worthy.

Working it in WHITE- Kara Dioguardi, Kim Kardashian channeling J.LO in a slinky Ina Soltani and “Gossip Girl” Leighton Meester in Bottega Veneta, who was my pick for best dressed of the night!
