LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Fans of “Glee” will have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.
According to Billboard, the show will issue not one, but two albums in November and December featuring the numerous songs from the show as “Glee: The Music” volumes 1 and 2.
A new Christmas single, a cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas” that won’t appear on the show, will also be released. A cast tour is reportedly in the works for summer 2010.
And, the mag reported, solo albums for the series’ stars could be in the works as well.
“Lea [Michele] has tried different songs and already thought, ‘Maybe I like doing rock,’” “Glee” showrunner Ryan Murphy told the mag. “Her album is not going to be Broadway stuff. She’ll sit with producers and come up with her own concept.”
And Lea herself said she’s not sure if her co-stars have plans for their own solo discs, but there’s one she can’t wait to hear.
“I have no idea, but all I know is that as soon as Amber Riley [who plays Mercedes] makes her album, I’m going to be the first one buying it,” Lea said.
Songs from the show have sold over 1.8 million digital downloads, the mag reported, with the “Glee” version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” selling 522,000 downloads overall and entering the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 4 in its first week of release.
