Halle's Daughter: Nahla Ariela Aubry
It's official, Halle Berry's baby daughter's name is: Nahla Ariela Aubry
The name is pronounced ["GNAW-lah ARE-ee-EL-uh"]
Halle spoke directly with Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell about choosing the name.
"We didn't have a name picked out until just before we left the hospital," Halle told Nancy.
"For us it was hard to name the most important person in our life until we met her."
The 41-year-old actress gave birth on Sunday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and is now at home with the Nahla, who was born at 7 pounds & 4 ounces.
Halle is “doing great,” her rep said Sunday.
It is the first child for Halle and her boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry.
A source tells Access the actress had a long natural birth.
Back in September, Halle confirmed the news exclusively to Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell.
“Gabriel and I are beyond excited, and I’ve waited a long time for this moment in life. Now the next seven months will be the longest of my life!” Halle told Nancy.
Over the years, Halle has made no secret about her desire for a family. In April 2007, Nancy sat down with the Oscar winning actress a candid talk about Halle’s plans for kids.
“Not that there’s not more to accomplish, but I think I arrived at a point in life that I realized I needed more to get me up in the morning. More than going to a new movie set. Or as much fun as getting the star was yesterday, I need something even more profound than that and that’s family. And that’s children,” Halle said. "I need that like the air to breathe these days and I’m ready. I’m at a point where I’m really, really ready.”
Halle and Gabriel, 32, met in November 2005.
While the couple has no plans to marry, in an October 2007 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Halle said she and Gabriel are fully committed to each other.
“I feel more married, in a way, than I ever have in two marriages before,” she told Oprah. “He really understands the spiritual connection is so much more important than the paper and the pomp and circumstance and the ceremony.”
