Reality icon Kim Kardashian is the ultimate jet-setter. One minute she’s shopping in Paris, the next she’s wearing a burqa in Dubai.

Kim’s celebrity status (and paycheck) allows her the luxury to travel the world. Lucky girl!

Most of us can’t afford a vacation to Europe or Florida for that matter – much less to jump on a plane at a moments notice. That doesn’t mean we can’t learn about other cultures and utilize healthy customs from other countries in our own lives.

Here’s a woman to feed our appetite for a global wellness adventure — Danielle Robb, the host of Discovery’s Velocity channel travel series ‘A Place in the Sun,’ takes her viewers on exotic adventures to faraway lands. As a result of her world travels, Danielle has picked up lots of local customs and is able to share healthy habits she’s learned from different countries. Now, that’s a cool job!

“While traveling around the world for ‘A Place in the Sun’ it’s important that I pay attention to the healthiest food opportunities in any particular location, not just to maintain an optimal lifestyle, but to stay healthy when I am trying to maintain a constant pace working on the road,” reveals Danielle. “It’s also been nice to try and bring some new ideas from remote international destinations home with me.”

Danielle’s Destinations For Health & Wellness:

1. Greece:
I was exposed to the medicinal properties of sardines. What most people don’t know about sardines is that they have more calcium and phosphorus than milk, more protein than steak, more potassium than bananas, and more iron than cooked spinach. They are also recognized for their high concentration of omega-3-fatty acids, Coenzyme Q10 and high protein content.

2. Nicaragua:
Nicaragua’s chili pepper crops are exported in hot sauces around the world. Along with their ability to pep up our meals, these peppers contain vitamin A, including beta-carotene, which is believed to be helpful in reducing the chronic ailments such as asthma and preventing certain cancers.

3. Belize:
Visiting an Indian holistic center in Belize I learned of the various curative, preventative, and overall medicinal qualities of so many of the everyday spices that are available to us here in the U.S. For example, curry and turmeric are believed to be anti-inflammatories, which I was in need of while trying to keep up my workout routine and fight jet lag. Another new idea that I learned was the concept that cinnamon regulates blood sugar.

4. Fiji:
In Fiji I was welcomed with an elixir called Kava. Along with being a traditional aspect of building relationships in this new culture, Kava is recognized for its qualities of reducing a variety of stress and anxiety related condition and illnesses.
