Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – ‘The Playboy Club’s’ Jenna Dewan’s High Energy Eating Plan!

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Actress Jenna Dewan travels back to the 1960s to star in NBC’s retro drama, “The Playboy Club.” The 30-year-old stunner suits up in the iconic Bunny costume – fishnets and all!
To shape up for her new primetime gig, Jenna recruited celebrity nutritionist and author of “The Beauty Detox Solution,” Kimberly Snyder. The actress not only wanted to be super-fit, but also high energy to cope with her crazy production schedule. “I never obsess about being thin. Instead I focus on food options that I know give me energy and make me healthier, and staying slender is a natural bi-product. Although, I always listen to my body and never beat myself up if I indulge a bit,” the actress reveals to Healthy Hollywood. Jenna admits she loves salty food – especially French fries and chips!
Kimberly, who also works with Jenna’s husband, actor Channing Tatum, and other celebs, like Drew Barrymore and Hilary Duff, reveals the biggest nutrition “no-no” actors (and the rest of us) make is “noting just the calorie, carb and protein content of foods and solely making food choices based on that. You can have 0 calories from diet soda and eat a frozen meal with only 12 grams of carbs, but it doesn’t mean you are getting the absorbable nutrients needed to maintain youthful, radiant skin and body.”
Kimberly put Jenna on a high-energy nutrition track, adding, “since digestion takes such a large percentage of your overall energy, our plan included my Beauty Food Pairing and Light to Heavy principles (eating easy to digest foods first)… She always starts with 25 ounces of Glowing Green Smoothie (recipe below), which she drinks throughout the morning. For lunch, in the early afternoon, I would make her a salad-based meal, usually a version of my Dharma’s Kale salad with avocado, sprouts, some quinoa or beans (which she loves) and other veggies. For dinner, she eats a wide variety of things, such as black bean burritos, baked falafel, or gluten-free, vegan pizza.”
The Glowing Green Smoothie is a nutritional powerhouse, states Kimberly. “In one delicious drink, you get the fuel to not only lose weight, but rejuvenate your skin, fight aging, and increase your energy.”

Kimberly shares her green smoothie recipe – a fave of all her celebrity clients.
Glowing Green Smoothie – Makes 64 ounces (keeps covered in fridge for up to 2 days)
Ingredients 1 1/2 cups of water 1 head of organic romaine lettuce, chopped 3 handfuls of organic spinach 3-4 stalks of organic celery 1 organic apple, cored and chopped 1 organic pear, cored and chopped 1 organic banana Juice of ½ fresh organic lemon
Optional – 1/3 bunch of organic cilantro 1/3 bunch of organic parsley
Directions: Add the water and chopped head of romaine to the blender. Starting the blender on a low speed, mix until smooth. Gradually moving to higher speeds, add the herbs (if including), celery, pear, and apple. Add the banana and lemon juice last.
