Taking the lead from my one of favorite wellness-inspired celebs, Gwyneth Paltrow, Healthy Hollywood is cleaning up its act.
Paltrow is a fan of detoxes that help rid the body of toxins and a few extra pounds, yet still lets you eat “real” food.
I have tried and not always succeeded at various juice cleanses – can you say moderate “starvation.” Now, after stumbling upon Urban Detox Club, a food-based detox that tackles long-term eating habits, I am ready to give it a go again. This two-week detox promises to get rid of unhealthy cravings, increase energy, and eliminate bloat – plus nix “bad” foods from your diet for good! Sounds like a healthy way to head into the warm-weather (a.k.a. bikini) season!
After reaching out to Urban Detox, I was contacted by co-founder and health coach, Rebecca Sedak, who helped define my goals.
“I see your three main goals as weaning yourself off coffee, improving digestion, and increasing energy. Every person is different, but given your challenges I anticipate you to no longer be reliant on your morning cup of coffee at the end of the program, to have increased energy, and to no longer suffer from the discomfort of bloating,” Rebecca says.
Armed with supplements, a list of good and bad foods – my cleanse starts tomorrow. The first three days is all about eliminating bad foods – so say goodbye to coffee, meat, dairy and sugar.
“Most of the challenges people face on this program is based on breaking old habits and creating new healthy ones. Most people feel great after a few days of breaking the ritual [morning coffee] and replacing it with warm water and lemon or a cup of green tea,” advises Rebecca.
The following seven days, my diet will be packed with detox friendly foods and I will eat them according to provided guidelines and meal plan suggestions. The final phase lets you slowly reintroduce eliminated foods back into your diet, so you can detect whether or not a particular food causes a negative reaction.
Healthy Hollywood is up for the challenge – but admittedly a morning without a fresh-brewed cup (or three) of coffee is going to be tough!
