NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Brooke Burke-Charvet seems to have it all. “The Dancing with the Stars” co-host has a loving husband, four wonderful kids, an exciting career and a knockout body to round out the package. Yet, just like us regular folks, life can take an unexpected turn at any moment.
Just four months ago, Brooke was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Her doctor discovered a questionable bump during a routine exam. “The reason I went public about it was to spread the word about preventative health. I book that long, annoying, yearly physical, even when I feel perfectly fine,” Brooke reveals in the April issue of Health magazine.
Now, it’s been four months since her thyroid surgery and she’s thankfully cancer-free. She reveals in Health magazine how the diagnosis changed her outlook, adding, “I was already eating healthy. But it really confirms how good I feel when I work out. After lying around for a few weeks, I was like, ‘Agh! I need to move. I need to sweat and get that adrenaline rush.’ It’s the best antidepressant.”
The 41-year-old mom also reveals she’s learned to embrace her age. “The 40s are a reality check. That’s when some people are trying to look 25. I would like to slow down my aging process, but I don’t want to look like a pumpkin, all swollen! I don’t want to fill every flaw in my face. A few? [Laughs]
While, Brooke teases about maintenance for anti-aging, she knows the best source of happiness comes from inside. “You have to embrace Mother Nature a little. I’m a woman. I’m a wife. I’m a mother of four. I don’t want to look like a 25-year old anymore. I want to be my best healthy self,” she adds to Health magazine. You go, girl! Sounds like you’ve got the perfect recipe for beauty inside and out.
