Remember Hula Hooping as a child? Well, it’s back and adults — famous or not — are lovin’ it! Celebrities like Beyonce, Marisa Tomei and even First Lady Michelle Obama are already into the spin for health.
Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover tried out their hooping skills this morning when Hula guru and founder of Hoopnotica, Gabriella Redding, stopped by our studio. Redding, who lost 65 pounds hooping, says it’s a full body workout that firms the core and burns up to 600 calories per hour.
Yet, it’s more than a calorie cruncher, Hula Hooping is excellent for your emotional and mental well-being. “It’s just good fun,” declares Gabriella. “Hula hooping makes you laugh and laughter reduces stress.” It’s also an activity you can do with your kids, friends or boyfriend. Staying connected with others and enjoying fun company is an instant upper.
So, what are you waiting for? All you need is a hoop and to crank up the tunes. However, don’t buy the ones at kids’ toy stores for exercise. Instead, Redding recommends a more grown-up weighted hoop.
They cost just under $50 and can be found at www.hoopnotica.com.
