LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

The life and work of Heath Ledger will be celebrated in an hour-long documentary on Ovation TV, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The documentary about the Oscar-winning actor will premiere in August for the cable channel’s “Live Fast, Die Young,” a week-long event, which delves into the lives of stars who died young. Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Belushi will also be featured.

“Throughout his short career, Heath Ledger seemed a star destined to burn brightly and leave a lasting mark,” Kris Slava, Senior VP of Programming for Ovation TV told the trade magazine. “This documentary is a warm, honest portrayal of the actor and the man, and features footage that has never been seen in America.”

Ledger died on January 22, 2008, from an accidental drug overdose in his New York apartment. His last film, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May and will be widely released in the fall.
