Hilary Swank
overview
Even this early in her career Hilary Swank is already in a rare circle of actresses — as a two-time Best Actress Academy Award winner by the age of 30! She also happened to have beat out legendary superstar Annette Bening for both of her Best Actress awards.
The native Nebraskan says she always felt most connected when she was either reading or at the movies. Her mother was especially supportive of her desire to act and moved the two of them to Los Angeles when Hilary was 16, with just $75 and a Mobil gas card. Despite this tenuous beginning, it didn't take long for Hilary to get her first role and soon she was working steadily on television shows like “Growing Pains” and “Beverly Hills 90210.” But her star really went into overdrive with her Best Actress performance in 1999's “Boys Don't Cry” about a young transgendered Nebraska woman named Teena Brandon. Her second award came five years later for her role as a female boxer in "Million Dollar Baby." She's a talent to be reckoned with and should deliver many more cinematic gems in the future.
