It was a night of fun shopping, when I hit J.Crew for one of the company’s “Style Sessions” event. In a weird, only-in-LA moment, I had to get through a crowd of fans going crazy for “Ron Burgundy” at a book signing, before I could get into the store!
Let’s just say the J.Crew fashion was much better than Ron’s signature, um, style. (Stay classy!)
The “Style Sessions” event was hosted by blogger Sydne Summer from SydneStyle.com and stylist Max M., to introduce the new Winter/Holiday Collection and to show invited guests how to style the clothes perfectly! (That’s Sydne, pictured, in head-to-toe Crew, with me at the event).
Hors d’oeuvres and wine were served, which made for a festive atmosphere, while guests put together their own spin on J.Crew ensembles, under Sydne and Max’s watchful eyes.
Guests were then invited to take selfies and tag them #jcrewstylesession on Instagram, where J.Crew President and Creative Director Jenna Lyons and her team would see the photos. Fun, right?
People were soooo into this. They were pulling items from all over the store…including shoes and jewelry and accessories…to come up with complete outfits that might impress Jenna. They were also putting on finishing touches like red lipstick and sea salt spray to create the perfect hair…all to make their outfits and photos look just right.
That’s what I call dedicated!
I did a little shopping myself (I bought a sweater — on sale!) and a boho blouse (not on sale, ha ha!), but mostly it was about watching the fashion mavens get their Crew style on. “Style Sessions” were held in stores across the country and Jenna and her team will pick one winner that will be featured in an upcoming style guide.
