Jason Segel’s ‘HIMYM’ Castmates Dish On His YouTube Date

Caption Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders, inset: Jason SegelLOS ANGELES, Calif. -- After posting an original song on YouTube asking Jason Segel out for a drink, super fan Chelsea Gill’s dreams came true when the “How I Met Your Mother” star contacted the Chicago resident and asked her to be his date to the Chicago Film Critic Awards last weekend, and the actor’s “HIMYM” co-stars say they would expect nothing less from their charming castmate.
“Jason’s a super lovely guy,” Neil Patrick Harris told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman when asked about his co-star’s YouTube date at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “He does stuff like that, and authentically. It wasn’t for any kind of agenda.”
Cobie Smulders echoed NPH’s Segel sentiment, saying, “Jason Segel is the nicest man alive.
“I think he respects and appreciates his fans,” she added.
As for whether accepting Chelsea’s internet invite will open the floodgate for thousands of fans hoping to spend time with “The Muppets” star, Neil said Jason can handle whatever challenge may come.
“The trouble with Twitter is, you answer one question on Twitter, then for the next for days you get nothin’ but questions,” he told Laura. “But, I’m sure Jason would like lots of dates – he’s a raconteur!”
