LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

In the first ever Game Show Awards, Howie Mandel will be making face time not only as the host, but also as a nominee.

GSN announced today that Howie will host the award show, which rewards excellence in the game show genre, and is set to premiere June 6 on GSN.

And the “Deal or No Deal” host is hoping to make this award show a memorable one — even taking a page from the Emmys.

“I want The Game Show Awards to be unlike any awards show on television,” he commented. “I am trying to convince GSN to hire four co-hosts for the night. We’ll see what happens.”

Howie is nominated in the best game show host category for his work on “Deal or No Deal,” and can also been seen on his new NBC hidden camera show, “Howie Do It.”

The Game Show Awards will honor both classic and contemporary game shows, as well as pay tribute to Bob Barker of “The Price Is Right,” Monty Hall of “Lets Make a Deal,” and Mark Goodson, who has produced such classics as “Beat The Clock,” “Family Feud” and “The Price is Right.”

Fans can vote for their favorite nominees on the GSN Web site until May 15, and are encouraged to go online during the June 6 broadcast on GSN for a chance to win cash and prizes.
