Access Hollywood caught up with the star at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego where he gave us the scoop on the follow-up to “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
“Script is done for ‘Wolverine.’ I’m literally – this afternoon – going to be meeting up with the director James Mangold,” Hugh told Access at the “Real Steel” event on Thursday.
“We are shooting in October,” he said of “The Wolverine.” “Very excited about it.”
Also at the event, Hugh confirmed the movie’s villain would be Kenuichio Harada, known as Silver Samurai.
“That should be exciting,” he told reporters about battling the mutant who has the ability to produce energy, which he uses as a sword – energy capable of destroying anything except Wolverine’s adamantium.
Hugh also told Access that he’s not sure when Marvel’s most beloved mutant will hit the big screen.
“I don’t worry about that, I just worry about the shooting bit,” he added with a smile.
First up, fans will see the star and boxing robots in “Real Steel,” a project that his family is in his corner for.
“It’s a film for everyone,” Hugh told Access. “In fact, when I was reading the script… my son made me read it to him. I loved it and then when he loved it. My mother-in-law says it’s the best movie I’ve done. She loves it! It’s really is for everyone.”
“Real Steel” busts into theaters on October 7.
