SYDNEY, Australia -- Hugh Jackman’s daring entrance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Tuesday left the actor with an injured eye.
The mishap occurred when the 42-year-old flew down a zip-line from the top of the Sydney Opera House to the talk show stage and he failed to pull the brake in time.
Oprah, who has been taping her talk show Down Under, stopped filming and paramedics tended to the “Wolverine” star. They determined that his injury was minor and he could continue with the interview. Hugh returned to the stage holding a towel to his black eye and a glass of wine in his other hand.
The actor stressed that the accident was not the crew’s fault.
“I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbor, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and then boing,” he explained. “Totally my bad.”
“God he hit that hard,” Oprah told the audience. “Ooooh, we’re gonna see that on the news. Over and over and over again. ‘Hugh injured today. Zip-lining on Oprah.’”
Always the showman, Hugh shook off his injury and performed “I Still Call Australia Home” with the Qantas Children’s Choir, Olivia Newton-John, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe.
