LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” appears to have Marvel’s favorite mutant close to signing on.
Following reports that Hugh Jackman is in talks to reprise his beloved Wolverine role in the upcoming sequel, the actor confirmed to Access Hollywood that he’s been in discussions to join the film.
“There is an ‘X Men: First Class’ sequel, which Bryan Singer is directing… which I think is awesome because it started with Bryan and I know the fans are super excited,” Hugh told Access at the junket for his latest movie, “Les Miserables.” “I did a three hour, three word, cameo in the last one. It literally took me three hours, as long as it took me to audition for ‘Les Miserables.’”
“I have been talking to Brian about doing something in this [film],” he added.
If Hugh does sign on, this will be the seventh time the actor has played the mutant on the big screen, including the upcoming “The Wolverine,” a sequel to his 2009 spin-off movie, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
The possible casting news comes on the heels of the Singer’s announcement last week that Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen will reprise their roles as the older versions of Professor X and Magneto, respectively.
“X-Men: Days Of Future Past” is slated to hit theaters in summer 2014.
