LOS ANGELES, Calif --

Ioan Gruffudd is just a few months away from becoming a father for the first time.

And as he gears up for parenthood, the “Fantastic Four” star has been working hard at being a good husband to his pregnant wife, Alice Evans.

“I have basically been the best husband in the world,” the actor told People of his behavior — “or trying to be.”

Ioan revealed that he’s taken on a host of roles at home in the run-up to their baby’s birth, which is due to happen in September.

“You go from being lover to husband, lackey, taxi driver,” he told the mag. “You just have to have so many caps on. Listen, it’s a blessing that I am here, at home not working, being able to be there for her.”

Ioan, 35, and Alice, 37, who married in 2007, already know if they are having a boy or a girl. They have chosen, however, to keep both the baby’s sex and his or her potential name under wraps.

“We have a handful,” he said. “But I think we are going to wait until the baby arrives.”
