Is Mariah Still Angling For ‘Idol’?

According to E!‘s Ken Baker, the R&B star is still in the midst of negotiations to take a seat at the judges’ table.

“She wants it,” a source told E!. “She’s seen what ‘America’s Got Talent’ has done for [husband Nick Cannon] and thinks it will be a good career move.”

Judge Randy Jackson, who has worked with the singer on past music projects, is reportedly a good match with the chart-topper.

“Randy and Mariah have great chemistry,” the source added.

When contacted by Access a rep for Mariah said there is “nothing to report.”

A rep for FOX had no comment when contacted by Access.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Nick has been very public about his desire to see his wife join the FOX series, recently telling Access, “Mariah Carey should be the next judge on ‘American Idol’ cuz she’s the greatest singer of all time.”

Earlier this week, numerous outlets (including Access) reported that Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler had signed on as one of the new “Idol” judges.
