LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Sarah Michelle Prinze and Freddie Prinze Jr. have welcomed their first child – a daughter.

Sarah Michelle and Freddie “welcomed their daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze on Saturday, Sept. 19,” a rep for the former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star told People.

The parents are said to be “over the moon” about their daughter’s birth.

In the run up to the birth, Sarah Michelle, who recently changed her name from Gellar to Prinze, was spotted showing off her blooming baby bump across Los Angeles.

Last year, prior to becoming pregnant, Sarah Michelle said she knew she and Freddie would be good parents when the time was right.

“When we do have children, my husband and I will have such a strong foundation because we’ve given our relationship time to grow,” she said.

The actress, who has been married since 2002, also raved about how close she and Freddie have become over the years.

“I try to go into everything with an open mind, but it’s much more than I thought it would be. The partnership grows to such a different level. And all my life, it was just my mom and me, us against the world; so to let someone else in and to have another partner was hard for me,” she said. “Now he’s my partner, my best friend, and my husband.
